According to a report in the UK newspaper, The Sun, remote workers are taking so-called “hush holidays” or “hush trips” without informing their employers. One remote worker said: “I fly out somewhere on Thursday night and remote work on Friday, which means as soon as it hits 5pm I’m out the door and straight to dinner or a bar.”
Rose De Vore, the founder of The Travel Coach Network, explained why more employees are going on secret breaks. She said: “The reason that remote workers are feeling like they need to take hush trips is because they aren’t sure how they’ll be looked at by their company.” She encourages companies to embrace the trend, saying it will not only benefit their employees' mental health but also their workforce retention.
