In sharp contrast to its counterproductive OFCCP disability rules, the Department of Labor took a very positive step this week when it joined the Department of Defense in launching a Workforce Recruitment Program database containing profiles of nearly 3,000 college students and recent graduates with disabilities.  The database, which until now has only been available to federal agencies, includes veterans as well as individuals with a wide variety of academic backgrounds and degree levels.  Private sector employers can now take advantage of the database by submitting online position descriptions through AskEARN.org and expect to receive matched candidates for consideration within five business days.  Employers can then conduct independent interviews with students who are identified as potential job candidates, and are under no obligation to hire.  The Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities is a service of the National Employer Technical Assistance Center (NETAC) based at Cornell University's Employment and Disability Institute.
