Labor Secretary’s Nomination Hearing Scheduled

The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) has scheduled Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer’s confirmation hearing for her nomination to become U.S. Secretary of Labor for Wednesday, February 12 at 10 AM.

Why it matters: Given her union ties and pro-labor stances, Chavez-DeRemer could get more support from Democrats than other Trump nominees, which may make her confirmation relatively smoother.

The bottom line: The HELP committee vote breakdown will provide insight into the depth of her support on both sides of the aisle.
