HR Policy is seeking key cosponsors for Rep. Mimi Walters' (R-CA) "Workflex in the 21st Century Act," which would offer companies the option to opt in to a federal standard on paid leave. HR Policy's Workplace 2020 report discussed the emerging and evolving contours of the workplace and called for updates to antiquated labor policy, warning of the growing patchwork of state and local laws around these issues. Many local laws have been proposed or passed to require paid leave and sick leave. Varying employee eligibility rules and accrual rates, among other issues, create unnecessary complexity for employers who work across state lines. In support of the "Workplace in the 21st Century Act," which would help employers address this problem, we have been actively lobbying House Republicans on the Education and Workforce Committee. Now, it is, time to reach out to other House members on both sides of the aisle. If you wish to help in communications to key members of Congress in districts where you have operations, please contact E.R. Anderson, Vice President of Communications and Government Affairs ([email protected]).
