HR Policy Association CEO Dan Yager joined more than 100 corporate CEOs and policy organization leaders in calling for the immediate passage by Congress of a permanent bipartisan legislative solution authorizing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.  Yager said, “Our members are proud of the contributions that Dreamers bring to their companies and to the American economy.  It is incumbent on Congress to likewise recognize their valuable contributions to our economy and the American social fabric—and act now to find a DACA solution.”  Striking a legislative deal faces tough obstacles.  On Thursday the White House rejected a bipartisan proposal, sending congressional leaders back to the drawing board.  It is unclear whether a recent federal injunction blocking President Trump's September move to end DACA will have any effect on the timeline in Congress.  Pressure to find a solution continues to press legislators on both sides of the aisle.  In October, 110 chief human resource officers urged members of Congress and the Trump administration to consider in future policymaking the vital role foreign-born workers play in the U.S. economy.  The letter from HR Policy Association noted the enactment of a statutory authorization of the DACA program would be a step in the right direction.
