This week, Victoria A. Lipnic, Acting Chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, said the "costs and benefits" of requiring employers to begin submitting their workers' pay data as part of the annual EEO-1 report need to be re-evaluated. Under the new reporting requirement, employers must begin submitting calendar year 2017 pay data classified by race, sex and ethnicity by March 31, 2018. According to Commissioner Lipnic, such a review “fits perfectly” into the type of pending federal agency actions President Trump wants to put on hold and she "look[s] forward to having a conversation with my colleagues" about it. However, Ms. Lipnic is currently the only Republican member on the EEOC and there is unlikely to be a Republican majority on the Commission until sometime after Jenny Yang’s term expires on July 1, 2017.
