
Simone Jackson is the Labor Counselor, and serves as the head of the Labor and Disputes Unit, in the Economic Section of the United States Embassy in Mexico.
She joined the U.S. Department of State in 2003 as an economic-coned officer. Previous overseas assignments include: Carribbean Regional Program Coordinator for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief; Internal Political Unit Chief at the U.S. Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil; Management Section Chief in Luanda, Angola; Refugee and Humanitarian Affairs Officer in Islamabad, Pakistan; Deputy Economic Counselor in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and Visa Section Chief in Sanaa, Yemen. This is her second time in Mexico as she previous served as an Economic Officer in Mexico City from 2006-2008.
Simone has also served in Washington as the Senior Economic Officer in the Office of Israel and Palestinian Affairs; Energy Officer for Turkey and the Caucuses in the Bureau of Energy Resources; and Near East Program Officer in the Office of Refugee Admissions.
Simone is originally from Miami, Florida and holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Economics from George Washington University. She is married to a fellow diplomat; they have two daughters and a son.
