Seraphim Ma
Seraphim (Sara) Ma is the Managing Partner of Baker McKenzie’s Taipei office since July 1, 2021. She also heads the Employment & Compensation practice group. Her experience spans employment law, intellectual property law, dispute resolution, and joint venture projects with the government.
She has received several awards, including the Top 50 Women Leaders by International Employment Lawyer in 2022 and the Asia Women in Business Law Award by Euromoney Legal Media Group in 2014 and 2016. Seraphim is a civic leader who advises the Taiwan government on key legislation. She has served as a board governor and supervisor for the American Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan and co-chair of HR Committees for both the American and European Chambers of Commerce Taiwan.
Her employment related practice focuses on labor disputes, including settlement, mediations, lawsuits, union negotiations, and industry-specific exemptions from labor law. She led the submission to the government on Taiwan’s labor laws.
Seraphim completed her legal qualifications at National Taiwan University (LL.B.) (1985) and University of California at Berkeley (LL.M.) (1994). She speaks English, Chinese and Taiwanese, and is admitted to practice in Taiwan.
