Ruud Van Der Wel is Head of Global Employee & Labour Relations at A.P. Moller-Maersk.
A.P. Moller - Maersk started the roll-out and implementation of new Global Standards for Third Party Labour, as part of our ESG-strategy. Triggered by feedback from our business entities we have developed these new Standards, including a comprehensive plan for implementation and monitoring. We have done this in close collaboration with the Maersk Global Labour Rights Council, colleagues from Procurement, Sustainable Procurement and Corporate Sustainability. Supported by experts from SHIFT. We are working with many external partners providing us with so called 'third party labour'. These workers are as important to us as our own employees. We want to ensure that their fundamental labour rights are respected, just like the rights of our own employees. It is our purpose to 'Improve life for all by integrating the world'. The introduction of this new policy and the journey we will embark upon, together with our suppliers, is part of achieving that purpose.
