“Accelerating equality in the workplace has never been more critical for driving innovation,” Ms. Shook said. “If people feel a sense of belonging and are valued by their employers for their unique contributions, perspectives and circumstances, they are more likely to advance and feel empowered to innovate.”
Culture of equality directly linked to innovation: For every 10 percent improvement in companies’ culture factors measured, the survey found, employees’ innovation mindset increased by 10.6 percent. Accenture further calculated that if an innovation mindset in all countries were raised by 10 percent, global GDP would increase by up to $8 trillion by 2028.
Why it matters: The linkage between performance and workplace culture is growing stronger—a trend of which stakeholders, including large institutional investors, are taking note.
