President-elect Trump's transition team began talks this week with congressional staff to lower child-care costs and guarantee women six weeks of paid maternity leave.  According to media reports, Trump transition officials asked House Ways and Means Committee staff to include provisions that would allow parents to deduct child care costs in this year's tax reform package.  President-elect Trump's daughter, Ivanka, has championed the idea as well as a proposal for paid maternity leave.   According to the reports, the transition team and Ways and Means Committee staff agreed that any maternity leave idea would be pursued separately from tax reform legislation.
