Having spent her first couple of months in office meeting with hundreds of CEOs from around the country, newly appointed Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker this week announced a new "Open for Business" policy initiative for her department, centered on U.S. trade and investment, innovation, better data, and protecting the environment. Among its priorities, the Department is teaming up with federal partners and industry leaders to support "demand-driven skills training." In addition, the initiative will focus on providing more and better data for employers "to help businesses make the best growth decisions." As Secretary Pritzker noted: "This data helps both existing businesses as well as new data-driven startups."
