COVID-19 Update: India

March 29, 2021

COVID-19 cases in India have started rising once again, with almost 38,000 new infections reported on March 21, 2021. The number of daily reported cases have more than tripled in the last week.  The prime minister met with all the chief ministers, emphasizing the importance of sticking to COVID-19 appropriate behavior as well as the need to significantly increase testing. As vaccination hesitancy leads to a loss of doses, the government is considering offering vaccination to everyone. Currently, vaccines are limited to those over 60 years old or at least 45 years old with co-morbidities.
