Amy Lau is Executive Director of Asia Pacific Employee Relations Group (APERG), as well as Director of Asian Affairs for HR Policy Association, serving as the Association's contact point for member companies in the Asia Pacific region.
A recognized HR thought-leader with proven records in the region, Lau has more than 25 years of human resources experience in a regional capacity and has been based in China (Beijing & Shanghai), Japan, Taiwan and Singapore. Prior to her current appointment, Lau served as the vice president, human resources – Asia Pacific for Eaton Corporation. In this role, Lau was responsible for providing human resources leadership for Eaton’s rapidly expanding business interests in the region. She has also worked for several multinational companies such as General Electric, Standard Chartered Bank, Monsanto and Nortel.
In 2008, Lau was recognized as one of the best HR Managers in Greater China by HRoot & World Management Review Magazine. Year 2009 saw her awarded Best HR Practitioner at the 4th Annual Symposium of HR Management organized by China Enterprise Evaluation Association and China Human Resources Development Association (a unit of the State Planning Council). She has also spoken at Annual HR Conferences organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, Cornell Academy of HR Studies (CAHRS) and Fudan University in Shanghai.
Lau holds an MBA from Durham University, U.K., a post-graduate diploma in marketing from Newcastle-upon-Tyne Polytechnic, U.K., and a bachelor in communication from Hong Kong Baptist University.
