Currently, HR Policy Association is focused on the following:
Executive Compensation Policies and Practices
Because of the debate over governance and pay practices of publicly held companies
by regulators, legislators, watchdog groups, pension funds, and others, the Association's
Center On Executive Compensation
serves as an advocate for principled pay practices and compensation policies that
serve the best interests of shareholders and other corporate stakeholders.
Reform of the U.S. Health Care System
The Association supports a national health care reform agenda that builds upon our
employer-based system to create a competitive and accountable health care market
place that controls costs and improves value, ensures all Americans have health
insurance, and achieves the adoption of health information technology together with
an enhanced focus on wellness and prevention.
Health Care Marketplace Initiatives
Frustration with certain aspects of the health care marketplace has led the membership
to use its collective purchasing power to create its own health care programs. These
include Retiree Health Access, the only program
providing fully insured guaranteed issue pre- and post-65 benefits to retirees without
an employer subsidy requirement, and the Association's Transparency in Pharmaceutical
Purchasing Solutions program (TIPPS) setting
contracting transparency standards for pharmaceutical benefit managers.
Global HR Challenges
Because the majority of HR Policy members operate globally, the Association provides
a series of programs and services that assist its members in dealing with HR challenges
beyond the borders of the United States.
Changes in Employment and Discrimination Laws Under Consideration by Congress
The U.S. Congress is actively considering sweeping changes in the U.S. employment
discrimination and leave laws, and the Association is has a series of initiatives
underway to ensure appropriate and reasonable outcomes.
Labor Relations Policies and Practices
The Association is involved in both the debates in Congress over changes to the
nation's organizing and collective bargaining laws as well as teaching a series
of courses on employment practices in both represented and non-represented environments.
Its "Elements of Bargaining" course has become an industry leader in training management
negotiating teams in the art and science of collective bargaining.
Immigration Reform
Federal legislative and regulatory action on immigration matters has become one
of the most contentious domestic policy issues in the United States. The Association
is focused on compliance issues with employment verification requirements, skilled
worker visa programs, and immigration enforcement policies.
Retirement Security
Currently, the Association is developing a series of funding tools that the membership
can utilize to help employees achieve key retirement security objectives.
